Our Christmas Celebration
Barn Service
As we prepared for Christmas at St. Paul’s, one of the Advent highlights was a Sunday evening worship service held in the simple, earthy surroundings of a local barn. We sat on bales of hay, sang carols accompanied by guitar and listened to Bible readings about the events leading up to and including the birth of Christ. In the quiet of the evening, in the cold of the “stable” we celebrated Holy Communion, the birth of the Christ Child and the gift of salvation given to all of us through His birth, death and resurrection.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Services
Luminaries directed our path to a candle lit sanctuary where sounds of chimes, handbells, flute and brass filled the air. We raised handheld candles as we sang the words to Silent Night played on the recently repaired historic Bohler Organ. Anthems, solos and hymns, the simplicity of poinsettias and Chrismas trees, all were offered to help us celebrate the birth of Christ 2000 years ago and his rebirth in our hearts today.
Thank you to the many, many people who were a part of preparing for Christmas Eve worship so we all could experience God’s love and peace this night.
